GCCG Shadowmoor Update
Shadowmoor is here, and it’s on GCCG too
I made a new page to prevent clogging the main site. For update instructions and other information, click the GCCG link near the top of the page, or click here.
GCCG Morningtide Update
As the Generic Collectible Card Game is pretty much the only way to play Magic: The Gathering on Linux, I use it as my primary client. However, the cards in the http://www.reneploetz.de/gccg/ repository are only updated up to Lorwyn, so I couldn’t play with Morningtide cards. Googling for them also found nothing.
But there are fortunately some scripts there, which download spoilers from Gatherer and convert it to GCCG-readable form. They needed some updating, and the gatherer output has changed recently, but I managed to get them to work. Then I compiled both the data files and card images into gccg_package compliant archives.
The packages can be found at http://noughmad.fileave.com/gccg/. To install the updates from within gccg, run from the directory where gccg is installed:
$ ./gccg_package source add http://noughmad.fileave.com/gccg/
$ ./gccg_package update
And to install the card pictures:
$ ./gccg_package install mtg-cards-061
This is what you do if you’re using Linux. On windows, I’m not completely sure what you have to do, but I think running:
@perl gccg_package source add http://noughmad.fileave.com/gccg/
Update Everything.bat
@perl gccg_package install mtg-cards-061
in the command line (Start=>Run=>cmd) will do the trick.
You can’t buy Morningtide boosters, because those are defined in the factory server configuration. So to play Morningtide limited, convince the guys at thinlizzy.myftp.org to update or start your own server.
You just can’t buy them using the graphical interface, type /buy MT booster to buy one.
Enjoy!
It’s official…
I’m the luckiest man alive.
Really. Today, I my girlfriend and I decided to go on a Magic: The Gathering tournament. It was a Two headed giant (which means we played in pairs) sealed. And just as I though I’m very lucky to have a girlfriend who would go to a tournament with me, we even won the thing. I should say that although I like Magic very much, I’ve never really won anything, and she’s never been on a tournament before.
It was a sealed event, and what we opened was really broken, so I suppose luck had much to do with our victory. We lost to one team in the rounds, but beat them in the finals, which also contributes to the luck factor. So indeed, today I consider myself to be the exceptionally lucky ![]()
I Missed the Pi day
So, yes, it’s the 15th of March now. Which means that yesterday was 3.14 in the stupid American notation, widely regarded as the Pi day. This is also pretty much the only benefit of the stupid notation, since there’s no 3. 14. or 31. 4. in our calendar.
(on a side note: If April got the extra day on leap years, we’d have 31. 4. as well)
But also, and completely coincidentally, we had the last selection examination for the MMO this year on 14. 3. So it’s a double math day. And I will never know if knowing it’s the Pi day would make my test result any better.
Also, I’ve decided to get an extra level or two of geekdom this week by seeing the whole Star Wars hexalogy.
