Star Wars Observations

- The original trilogy (IV - VI) is much lamer than the new one (I - III). Here’s why:
- There are only 6 (six) people who can use the Force. One doesn’t even know she has the Force, one dies naturally, and one lets himself be killed in a saber fight. Two of them actually fight, although for a short time, and the last one is manually thrown into a hole.
- There is a total of 1 (one) real fight with lightsabers. One. And nobody gets killed in it. The fight between Obi-Wan is Vader is not a real fight.
- There are two Death Stars, and they are both destroyed in a similar manner. Hooray for originality.
- Vader’s convincing of Luke is paradoxical. “Join the dark side, we have cookies”, but when Luke tells him to go back, he answers “it’s too late for me”. Really convincing.
- Yoda is both more serious and better animated in the new episodes.
- Last but not least, Leia is uglier than Padme.
- There can’t be any anti-trust regulations in the Republic, all the droids are the same.
- That droid general wielding 4 lightsabers at a time is cool. So is Yoda jumping around and fighting.
- The end is indeterministic. When are the last three episodes due?
- At one point, C-3PO says “This is madness”.
- Every time Anakin speaks about killing, or the power to save Padme, or something like that, the imperial march is heard in the background.
- Chewbacca, the Wookie supreme commander in episode III (he is with Yoda, after all, he must be supreme) becomes a first mate on a smuggling ship.
- Anakin is too old to begin trainin, while Luke is fine, although he’s much older than Anakin way at the time.
- I actually have some idea which scenes were in which episodes. This is not true for The Matrix, LOTR or Pirates of the Carribean. I might be learning to watch trilogies the right way.
- Watching them chronologicaly (I - VI) is more logical, but takes away the lement of surprise at the “I am your father” line.
